Piet Eichholtz is Professor of Real Estate Finance at Maastricht University and co-founder of the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), the first worldwide benchmark for selecting real estate managers on the basis of sustainability criteria. He is also co-founder of the GPR Index, a leading index of real estate securities for investing and benchmarking. Renowned Professor Geert Hofstede talks in a special lecture at Maastricht University about "Business Goals for a sustainable world economy: beyond growth, quarterly results, and greed". Professor Hofstede is also an Emeritus Professor at Maastricht University. Until his retiment he was also extra-mural fellow at CentER, Tilburg University.
DSM CEO: sustainable entrepeneurship
Feike Sijbesma, CEO of Royal DSM, gave a guest lecture about his management of Royal DSM. He also talked about the transformation of the firm in a changing world, and shared his views on the redesign of the economy with an essential role for sustainability. Mr. Sijbesma furthermore talked about leadership and innovation. He received early 2013 an an honorary doctorate from Maastricht University during the 37th Dies Natalis celebration.
Transition in banking sector: Nigeria
Mallam Sanusi, the 10th Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), talks about transforming the banking sector. Under his leadership, the Central Bank of Nigeria moved towards far-reaching reforms in the banking sector, by tackling root causes of problems such as poor governance and risk management, and weak regulatory supervision and enforcement. His keynote lecture from the ECCE-Stellenbosch conference on Financial Globalization and Sustainable Finance focuses on banking sector reforms in Nigeria and the implications for financial globalisation and sustainability.
